2024 Holiday Joy Program

PRC matches families we serve with Holiday Helpers, individuals and/or organizations, who are willing to purchase gifts and gift cards to help create a more joyful holiday season.

By connecting our families with those who wish to give, PRC ensures that the holiday season becomes a time of giving, joy, and hope during the holidays.

Do you need help this holiday season? Then, we may be able to help!

Enrollment in these programs is first come, first served, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible.

  • Your child(ren) must be 17 or under to participate.

  • Each child in the program must write their own personal letter to our sponsors sharing their interests, hobbies, and what they would like for the holidays.

  • Each child in the program must write &/or draw their own thank you letter after the holidays to your sponsors. Disabled children or children younger than 6 years old can dictate their letters to you.

A guide for sponsors for PRC’s Holiday Joy program

We are incredibly grateful for your consideration in supporting a Pacifica family!

How does it work?

  • PRC families register for the Holiday Joy Program and submit one holiday wish letter from each child and one gift the whole family.

  • Sponsors (You) use these letters to guide gift purchases and bring the wrapped gifts to our office after Thanksgiving but before December 14.

  • When the PRC family picks up their gifts, they write you an immediate, general thank you note. Please let us know if you would like a more detailed thank you letter after the holidays as this letter is now optional for families in an effort to make it easier for families to get support during the holidays.

What is your commitment?

  • Plan to spend a dollar value of at least $125.00 per child, $50 for a family gift, and $75 for a grocery store gift card

How do you sign up?

  • Please call or email the Pacifica Resource Center when you decide what size family you would like to sponsor and we will match you ASAP! Family enrollment begins in November but we anticipate a slight time lag between your request and your match. Our goal is to give you the details about your PRC family during Thanksgiving.

Palm-a-Palooza 2024 Celebrating 50 Years of PRC

Thank you to our supporters of Palm-a-Palooza 2024 Celebrating 50 Years of Pacifica Resource Center on September 21, 2024! Together, we raised nearly $87,000 for our community!

 

A sold-out crowd of over 200 PRC supporters, friends, and family joined us at the Farallon Room at Skyline College to celebrate our 50th anniversary, #PRC50!. We shared a golden evening with drinks, a tap dance performance by the Happy Hoofers, dinner and dessert, and a live auction with our wonderful auctioneer Tony Corten (husband of board member and owner of the Royal Bee Yarn Co., Kelley Corten). Our saturnalia ended with champagne toasts to PRC and hopes for our future.

All funds raised through Palm-a-Palooza help PRC continue to provide assistance to the growing number of Pacificans in need with groceries, emergency financial assistance for rent and mortgage, homeless services, and other critical services.

PRC Mother's Day AND Father's Day Cards!

For a gift of $50, we will send a personalized Mother’s Day card in May, or Father’s Day card in June, featuring artwork lovingly created by Pacifica artist Joel Fontaine to your mom, dad, or anyone you choose!

To ensure delivery of your card by Mother’s Day, please make your gift by Thursday, May 2, 2024.

To ensure delivery of your card by Father’s Day, please make your gift by Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Joel Fontaine contributed the artwork, Maggie Piver is hand addressing each card and dedication, PRC Board Member Robin Crawford penned the original poem, and The Graphic Works designed the card.


Pacifica Resource Center helps mothers and their children with groceries, housing support and other critical services. Your contribution is a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day and /or Father’s Day and make a real difference in our community.

Do you need Preschool or School-Age Afterschool Care for your child? Look no further, the City of Pacifica Child Care Division has openings right now! Families may be eligible for FREE or Reduced cost of care. Children learn best through PLAY!Our program provides a fun and supportive environment for children to gain social skills, create long lasting friendships, exploring, and work on the skills necessary to succeed in their future. We focus on children’s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. All you need to do to apply; complete an application, submit monthly household income and your family size. PRC's Tax Season Begins Saturday, January 27

Do you need help preparing your taxes this year? PRC's tax season begins Saturday, January 27, 2024. For appointments, call 650-738-7470 or click the button below to message PRC Tax Site Coordinator Mirella Osuna.

All tax services, including e-filing, are provided at no cost by tax preparers trained on tax law and certified by the IRS.

Did you know? You may qualify for more than $6,000 in refunds from the California and Federal Earned Income Tax Credits.

The amount of the cash-back tax credit depends on income and family size. To qualify for at least one of the two cash-back credits, your wages need to be less than $54,000.

Bring the following once you have scheduled your tax appointment:

  • Photo ID and Social Security Card or ITIN for each person on your tax return

  • W-2 for all jobs

  • All 1099s, 1098s and any other tax forms

  • Last year's tax return

  • Savings and checking account and routing numbers for direct deposit
