  • There are no shelters on the coast, but we do have resources and support to offer. Anyone who is unhoused can come to PRC for help.

Respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail - Everyone Counts!

Updated 8.4.20 at 2:30pm

The deadline to complete the census is now 9/30/20.

Enumerators will begin reaching out in person to those who have not completed the Census in August. If you haven’t completed the census yet, please do so online at my2020census.gov or by phone at 844-330-2020.

We need everyone counted because vital funding for health care and emergency service funding, like the current response to COVID19, comes from being counted in the census. #EveryoneCounts

The 2020 Census is happening now! Please visit 2020census.gov to learn how you can respond online, by phone, or by mail.

Census Day is April 1, 2020! Pledge to complete the brief questionnaire by texting the start word COUNT to 650-200-2743, or use the Pledge Form.

And, if you need help completing your Census 2020 questionnaire, PRC is an official Questionnaire Assistance Kiosk (QAK) available to assist you.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The National Census is the cornerstone of our democracy, so critical that it is mandated by the U.S. Constitution.

  • The first census took place in 1790 and has occurred every 10 years since to determine political representation.

  • Census 2020 will determine how many representatives CA has in U.S. Congress and how to draw state and local districts. This includes setting district boundaries for congressional, state senator, assembly member, county supervisor, and city council elections.

  • This means Census 2020 will affect your voice at the federal, state, and local level.

Make sure your voice is heard and our community is fairly represented by participating in Census 2020

Join us in starting the 2020’s strong by making a year-end gift to PRC!

Dear Neighbor,

As this decade comes to an end, I ask that you join us in starting the 2020’s strong by making a year-end gift to PRC. Your support is essential to helping more Pacifica families as the cost of living continues to rise.

And, for the third year, The Sam Mazza Foundation will generously match your gift up to $35,000. Every $1 you give by December 31, 2019 is worth $2 to Pacifica Resource Center and the families we serve, helping them feed their families, keep a roof over their heads, and become more financially stable.

It is alarming that 1 in 10 Pacifica families earned less than $25,000 and nearly 5 in 10 Pacifica families earned less than $129,150 – the US Department of Housing's low-income threshold for a family of 4 (source: U.S. Census Bureau's 2013-2017 American Community Survey). This means nearly half of Pacifica families could benefit from our services, and your gift will help meet this growing need!

In 2020, we will provide more robust services, including grocery deliveries, housing-centered case management, and onsite services at schools and senior housing in Pacifica. Together, we are neighbors helping neighbors. Together, #WeArePRC! All gifts are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law; our tax ID is 81-1496989.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support,

Anita M. Rees, PRC Executive Director

P.S. Remember, your gift will be matched up to $35,000, helping us raise $70,000 for our important work. Give by December 31, 2019 and double your donation!

P.P.S. Save the Date! PRC’s tax season kick off is on Saturday, January 25, 2020. More info to follow soon.

As Palm-a-Palooza’s coolest presenting sponsor, Recology of the Coast’s core philosophy is to immerse their corporate culture in the cities they service. “I cannot think of a better way for us to do this than by partnering with PRC,” said General Manager of Recology of the Coast, Chris Porter, who has lived and worked in our community for over 40 years. “My personal mantra is, at the end of my days, I hope at least one person will say that I’ve touched their life in a positive manner... think how many people can say PRC has touched their life in a positive way!”

Pacifica Resource Center provides economic security services in Pacifica for Pacifica families. Since 1974, PRC has worked with local businesses, organizations, and individuals throughout Pacifica to provide support to our neighbors in need. PRC is the only core agency in San Mateo County that provides these services to Pacificans struggling to make ends meet. Last year, PRC served 1 in 10 Pacifica families annually, helping them feed their families, avoid homelessness, and become more economically stable. Visit pacresourcecenter.org for more info.

PRC supports the economic security of Pacifica families and individuals by providing a safety net of groceries, housing assistance, and other critical services, including coaching, advocacy, information, and referral. As part of this work, our Back to School Program helps our families use their limited incomes to stay housed and feed their families, instead of sacrificing groceries and rent money to prepare their children for school. And, when children have food and shelter and can go to school with the supplies they need, they have the tools to succeed academically.

Thank you again for your support in helping our community's youth go to school prepared and ready to succeed through our Back to School program this year. All contributions to PRC are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law; our tax ID is 81-1496989.

Unhoused in Pacifica (UP) Task Force - Now Accepting Applications!

“Homelessness is not a “Pacifica Only” issue. Both the state and our county are looking for creative solutions for this complex issue, making this task force both relevant and timely.”
— Anita Rees, PRC Executive Director

The recruitment for those interested in serving on the UP Task Force is now open! Pacifica Resource Center Executive Director, Anita Rees, and City of Pacifica City Manager, Kevin Woodhouse have worked collaboratively on the formation process for this important community task force.

The application can be downloaded here or linked to and completed electronically here.

The deadline for applications is Friday, June 14, after which top candidates will be interviewed by Friday, June 28.

A more detailed informational report about the formation process is available at: https://bit.ly/2QljzTb.

The need for focused work of a dedicated task force has grown out of an increase in recent years and months of the unhoused population in Pacifica and a proliferation of the unhoused living in over-sized vehicles, such as motor homes.

Recognizing the magnitude of this challenge and the City’s resource limitations, the Pacifica City Council identified the need for a Task Force of diverse stakeholders, representing the full spectrum of viewpoints about this topic, to volunteer their time and energy to research and define the unhoused and over-sized vehicle challenges in Pacifica and assess potential solutions.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in assisting with this critical task force work, please apply to be considered.
