Coronavirus (COVID-19): PRC Updates and Information

PRC is open to assist our community with essential services, including groceries, housing assistance, and other critical services during the statewide COVID-19 shelter in place order.

We have modified service delivery to minimize contact in the community and encourage you to call us if you need any help or email us if you'd like to help at this time.

Appointments & Hours:

• PRC is open to the public as follows:

  Mondays 9a-12:30p

  Tuesdays 9a-12:30p

  Wednesdays 1:30-5:30p

  Thursdays 1:30-5p

  Fridays 9a-1p

• PRC staff is available all other times by phone ONLY.

• All appointments will be done virtually/electronically/or by phone, whenever possible.

Groceries:

• Groceries are being delivered to seniors and at risk families in Pacifica. Others needing groceries are encouraged to attend our drive thru distribution on Wednesdays in the parking lot at the American Legion Hall at 555 Buel Ave, Pacifica CA.

  Not signed up yet? Arrive at the American Legion Hall at 3:30p and we’ll provide groceries as quickly as possible.

• All drop ins are cancelled and pantry visits are suspended until further notice.

Financial Assistance for Rent, Mortgage, and/or Utilities:

• The moratorium on evictions due to past due rent currently ends on 6/30/2021. If anyone needs help paying past due rent or mortgage, August rent or mortgage, or future rent or mortgage, please contact PRC by phone at 650 738-7470 or email us at info@pacresourcecenter.org.

  An online pre-application for emergency financial assistance is available at https://forms.gle/9BMbG7CGjQ3aME7m9 to make it easier to apply and collect the most important documents.

• If absolutely necessary, we can schedule an in-person meeting at PRC and we will do our best to minimize your time here while practicing social distancing.

Homeless services

• Showers continue to be available to unhoused individuals and families by appointment. Thanks to several volunteers we have been able to offer even more showers.

• With our new Unhoused on the Coast (UC) Outreach staff, we will also be re-starting outreach to our unhoused neighbors in Pacifica and along the coast through Half Moon Bay. If you come across someone who is unhoused in Pacifica, please let us know so we can reach out to them.

• There are no shelters on the coast, but we do have resources and support to offer. Anyone who is unhoused can come to PRC for help.

Respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail - Everyone Counts!

The deadline to complete the census is now 9/30/20.

Enumerators will begin reaching out in person to those who have not completed the Census in August. If you haven’t completed the census yet, please do so online at my2020census.gov or by phone at 844-330-2020.

We need everyone counted because vital funding for health care and emergency service funding, like the current response to COVID19, comes from being counted in the census. #EveryoneCounts

Census Day is April 1, 2020! Pledge to complete the brief questionnaire by texting the start word COUNT to 650-200-2743, or use the Pledge Form.

Holiday Joy Program requirements:

* Your child(ren) must be 17 or under to participate.

* Each child in the program must write their own personal letter to our sponsors sharing their interests, hobbies, and what they would like for the holidays.

* Each child in the program must write &/or draw their own thank you letter after the holidays to your sponsors. Disabled children or children younger than 6 years old can dictate their letters to you.

Pacifica Resource Center Gets Outta Sight with Recology of the Coast for Palm-a-Palooza 2019!

Hang out with Pacifica Resource Center & Recology of the Coast and help your fellow Pacifican at our Palm-a-Palooza fundraiser on Saturday, September 14 at 6pm at The Moose Lodge.

Over 200 guests will gather for tunes, a live auction, and sustenance from the Earth provided by local food trucks and real hip cooks at Palm-a-Palooza on Saturday, September 14 at The Moose Lodge (776 Bradford Way). And, if you haven’t guessed by now, this year’s Palm-a-Palooza theme is SUMMER OF LOVE, presented by PRC and Recology of the Coast. Guests are encouraged to come in their grooviest threads. As always, all proceeds from Palm-a-Palooza benefit the local families PRC serves with groceries, housing support, and other critical services.

Since 1974, PRC has worked with local businesses, organizations, and individuals throughout Pacifica to provide support to our neighbors in need. PRC is the only core agency in San Mateo County that provides these services to Pacificans struggling to make ends meet. Back to school time is approaching fast and PRC is collecting backpacks and school supplies to help over 150 Pacifica students get ready for the upcoming school year! Can we count on your support again this year?

Last year with your help, we helped prepare 158 Pacifica youth with backpacks and grade-specific school supplies. This year, we invite you to support our 2019 Back to School Program with a gift of a backpack and/or school supplies.

PRC supports the economic security of Pacifica families and individuals by providing a safety net of groceries, housing assistance, and other critical services, including coaching, advocacy, information, and referral. As part of this work, our Back to School Program helps our families use their limited incomes to stay housed and feed their families, instead of sacrificing groceries and rent money to prepare their children for school. And, when children have food and shelter and can go to school with the supplies they need, they have the tools to succeed academically.

Unhoused in Pacifica (UP) Task Force - Now Accepting Applications!

The recruitment for those interested in serving on the UP Task Force is now open! Pacifica Resource Center Executive Director, Anita Rees, and City of Pacifica City Manager, Kevin Woodhouse have worked collaboratively on the formation process for this important community task force.

The deadline for applications is Friday, June 14, after which top candidates will be interviewed by Friday, June 28.

The need for focused work of a dedicated task force has grown out of an increase in recent years and months of the unhoused population in Pacifica and a proliferation of the unhoused living in over-sized vehicles, such as motor homes.

Recognizing the magnitude of this challenge and the City’s resource limitations, the Pacifica City Council identified the need for a Task Force of diverse stakeholders, representing the full spectrum of viewpoints about this topic, to volunteer their time and energy to research and define the unhoused and over-sized vehicle challenges in Pacifica and assess potential solutions.
