chuck evans Chuck Evans has been a resident of Pacifica since 1991, after moving here from the Hayward Area where he grew up. Upon retiring from a 30 year career in Fleet Management at East Bay MUD in 2006, Chuck has become an active volunteer in Pacifica giving his time to the City of Pacifica Planning Commission, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Liaison Committee and the Second Harvest Food Bank in addition to work with the PRC. He and his wife, Kay Carter, have been together over 20 years and both serve as members of the PRC advisory board. Chuck’s hobbies include landscape photography, road trips, blues music, model trains, and two beautiful granddaughters. Chuck joined the Advisory board in August 2010.

Bill Mullen, Advisory Board Member

Member, Communications and Fundraising Committees

Bill Mullen was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Pacifica eleven years ago with his wife and two children. Bill has worked in the surgical laser repair field for over 25 years and continues to be rewarded by his work. He is also an active member of St. Peter’s parish and has organized faith-based weekend retreats in the Bay Area. He loves all outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, and camping with his family. Bill feels blessed to be a part of the Pacifica Resource Center – a unique place that gives others the ability to get back on solid ground and to stay there. He has been a member of the Advisory Board since 2009.

Marcia Settel, Advisory Board Vice President

Chair, Fundraising Committee and Member, Governance Committee

marcia settelMarcia Settel and her husband David Gilson have lived in Pacifica for 30 years and is active in the Pedro Point Community Association. Marcia recently retired from 30 years of employment as an Administrative Law Judge with the State of California, presiding at state hearings requested by applicants for and recipients of benefits under various public safety net programs, including CalWORKS (formerly AFDC), CalFresh Food Stamps and Medi-Cal. Marcia has one daughter who is an attorney in San Francisco and a stepdaughter who lives in Seattle. Marcia enjoys knitting and jewelry-making, and hopes to become a better gardener now that she has more time. Marcia joined the Advisory Board in January 2011.

Julie Stewart, Advisory Board Member

Julie Stewart fell in love with Pacifica on a road trip down Hwy 1 when she was 19 years old. Seven years later she moved to town with her husband to make Pacifica their home. Now a mother of two children, Julie is a member of the Pacifica Mother's Club and a local business owner. Her company, Pacific Dance Company, provides professional dance instructors and enrichment classes to after school programs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Pacific Dance Company also provides enrichment classes in town to the Pacifica Community Center, Pacifica's Boys and Girls Club and Generations children's store in Pacifica. Julie joined Advisory Board in August 2011.

Cathy Sweetman, Advisory Board President

Chair, Strategic Planning Committee and Member, Fundraising Committee

cathy sweetmanCathy Sweetman has been a resident of Pacifica for 38 years. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. degree in psychology. After 13 years working as a retail buyer and store manager, Cathy joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company. During her 20 year career with PG&E, Cathy worked as a business planner, marketer, project manager, and as an expert witness in regulatory proceedings. After retiring, Cathy served on the PRC Advisory Board from 2004 to 2006, then returned to the board in March 2010. She is drawn to the PRC because of the unique services offered within the community and because of her interest in seeing that Pacifica individuals, families, and particularly children, receive the help they need to move through a crisis to a place of greater stability and self-sufficiency.
